What is clear aligner teeth straightening?

Clear aligners are custom, removable trays that gently shift teeth into better alignment over time. You’ll wear each set for a short period, then switch to the next. They’re discreet, comfortable, and fit seamlessly into your routine and will help correct crowding, gaps, and mild-to-moderate bite issues.

How clear aligner treatment works

We start with an exam and digital scans to design your custom aligners and a treatment roadmap. You’ll wear the trays daily, switching sets as directed, with quick check-ins to confirm progress. When you’re done, a retainer helps protect your new smile long-term.

What Clear Aligners Can Help Correct

Clear aligners can address a range of orthodontic concerns, especially mild to moderate alignment issues. They’re often used to improve crowding, spacing, and certain mild bite concerns, while also helping patients whose teeth have shifted after previous braces treatment. By gradually guiding teeth into better positions, aligners can improve both appearance and function.

During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your smile and discuss whether clear aligners are a good fit for your needs. If aligners are appropriate, we’ll create a custom treatment plan designed around your goals, comfort, and timeline.

Timeline + Wear Schedule

Clear aligners work best when they’re worn as directed, usually around 20 to 22 hours per day. You’ll remove them for eating, drinking anything other than water, brushing, and flossing, then place them back in to stay on track with treatment. Most patients switch to a new set of aligners on a schedule recommended by their dentist, often every one to two weeks.

You’ll also have periodic check-ins so we can monitor progress, make sure teeth are moving as planned, and answer any questions along the way. Treatment timelines vary depending on your starting point and goals, but consistency with wear is one of the biggest factors in achieving great results.

Retention After Treatment: Keeping Your Results in Place

Once your clear aligner treatment is complete, retainers help keep your teeth from shifting back out of position. This stage is an important part of protecting your results and maintaining your new smile. Your dentist will recommend how often to wear your retainers, which may be full-time at first and then reduced to a nighttime schedule over time.

Just like aligners, retainers should be worn consistently and cared for properly. We’ll also let you know how often to replace them and when to check in if you notice changes in fit or tooth position. Staying on top of retention is one of the best ways to keep your alignment looking great long after treatment ends.
